Guillaume Lekeu's compositions are characterized by melodic richness, harmonious finesse and extremely intense feeling of expression. For Lekeu, music was in the first instance the expression of his personal feelings. The piano trio included here is a striking example of this.

Edward Grieg called his Leuven friend Arthur de Greef the best interpreter of his music. De Greef is trained in the true romantic piano tradition, including Franz Liszt. From his piano trio the great predilection for pure lyricism appears. His attention to the broad melodiousness of the melodic line never diminishes. This is the very first recording ever made of this beautiful chamber music work.

From its inception, the Pianotrio Narziss und Goldmund drew all the attention by his great musical ability, his discipline and his emotional experience, such as the two figures Narziss and Goldmund in Hesse's eponymous novel novella. For three years, the Pianotrio Narziss und Goldmund was coached by the Alban Berg String Quartet at the Musikhochschule in Cologne. Master classes were followed at the Altenberg Trio Wien and the London Florestan Trio. Menahem Pressler of the Beaux Arts Trio follows the evolution very closely and fully supports the Pianotrio Narziss und Goldmund, which regularly performs at home and abroad. The Pianotrio Narziss und Goldmund is "ensemble in residence" in the Academy Hall of Sint Truiden.
