about

Arthur Meulemans is one of the most prolific composers in Flemish music history of the 20th century. In these works he demonstrates a descriptive mastery alongside a brilliant technique and a colorful orchestration.

Most of these works were composed for the NIR Radio Orchestra (now Flemish Radio Orchestra) when Meulemans was at the head of this orchestra in the 1930s.

1. Fair Fantasy on two folk rhythms after a painting by David Teniers (1930)
2. Woudzang (1927) and Zigeunerin, for violin and orchestra
3. Kerstidylle (1924) and Idylle of a Citadin (1929), for oboe and orchestra
4. Overture to the opera "Adriaen Brouwer" (1935)
5. Concerto for oboe and orchestra (1942)
6. Rhapsody for clarinet and orchestra (1932)
7. Exotic Dance (1911) and Wals (1913), for orchestra
